Call to keep bags safe after w

KEEP your bag safe.

That's the message from March police officers after handbags were stolen from elderly women.

Two thefts have taken place between T10 LED Tube T10 11am and noon on Thursdays in March town centre.

Both victims have described the offender as female, aged between 21 and 40-years-old, with very long straight red hair, approximately 5ft 5ins tall and possibly of a Mediterranean appearance.

In the most recent incident, a woman felt her bag go light in Thing Me Bobs shop, in Broad Street.

She then noticed her purse had been taken.

The incident happened at around 11.40am on Thursday, August 30.

Sergeant Alan Boughen said: "I would appeal to all shoppers to be careful and please pay special attention to keeping all handbags and valuables on your person at all times.

"Handbags should be carried close to the body, with the zip or clasp facing towards you.

"Wallets and other valuable items should not be kept in front pockets and away from view.

n Anyone with any information is asked to call Sgt Boughen at March police station on 0845 456 4564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
