China hopes London conference help boost Afghan reconstruction: FM spokesman

BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- China hoped the international meeting on Afghanistan in London would help speed up Afghanistan's reconstruction process, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Thursday.

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi was scheduled to attend the London conference Thursday and deliver a speech, spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular press briefing.

China expected participants of the conference would hold in- depth discussions and evaluate the situation and major challenges in Afghanistan objectively and accurately, Ma said.
