Sad return for Rangers

RANGERS finally returned to action for the first time in eight weeks - but only pandora style beads after a heavy pitch had passed a last minute inspection.

James O'Neill twice went desperately close for Winterton before a mistake by keeper Jamie Allen gifted the home side a 23rd minute lead.

Jake Stannard rattled the bar just before half-time as Rangers chased an equaliser.

On the hour they were down to 10 men when defender Ash Griffin was red-carded.

But Winterton fought back and Liam Wilkin intercepted a back- pass to equalise.

Danny Beecham and Wilkin then both went close to a winner.

Substitute Beecham fired in a thumping drive that keeper Burley spectacularly pushed round the post.

Then a short corner that didn't work came back to Wilkin whose dipping shot from a tight angle bounced on top of the bar and away.

But it was Hall Road who snatched victory from a break-away in the final 10 minutes.

Rangers are on their travels again, to Nostell, tomorrow.
